Caroline’s reflects the season through all five Pinot Noir clones grown within our Clos.

Damson plum and black cherry, with clove, dried thyme and sage. Fine, supple tannins frame concentrated fruit, with fresh acidity and a persistent, savoury finish.

Vintage & Wine Details

VINTAGE

Warm, dry summer conditions and persistent westerly winds produced small, concentrated berries. The five clones reached maturity separately and were harvested between 7 and 20 April.

VINEYARD

Single-vineyard fruit from the Clos Ostler monopole in the Waitaki Valley. The dry-grown vines occupy a north-facing limestone escarpment at approximately 208–230 metres. Caroline’s is drawn from the broader five-clone planting of 115, 667, 777, UCD6 and Abel.

WINEMAKING

The individual clones were harvested separately and matured for 15 months in French oak barriques, of which 20% were new.
